I hope you've all had a lovely summer! As the holidays come to an end, I wanted to take a moment to share what we’ve been up to recently, some exciting things coming up, and a few little reminders as we look ahead to the new term.
☀️ What We’ve Been Up To
We’ve made the most of the sunny days and had lots of fun out and about together! Some highlights include:
- Lovely picnics in the park, with plenty of time to run, play, and enjoy the fresh air.
- Our trip to the Motorbike Museum – the children were fascinated by all the different bikes!
- Fun day out at the farm, meeting animals, feeding goats, and exploring the play area.

When we go out, we sometimes go out as our small group or sometimes we join up with our friends at other Childminding settings, we’ve been encouraging children to mix with others, build friendships, and practice their social skills in bigger groups. It’s been so lovely to see their confidence growing.
📚 My Training
I’m currently working through the Early Years SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) course. This training helps me update my knowledge and ensures I can best support all children in my care, especially those who may need a little extra help along the way. I’m excited to be learning more and look forward to putting this into practice.
🧸 Introducing… Journey Bear!
We’re excited to welcome Journey Bear to our setting! Journey Bear is our new travelling friend who will be available to come home with the children. When it’s your child’s turn, they can take Journey Bear home for a couple of days and then bring him back to share what they got up to – photos, drawings, or a short story are all welcome!
This is a lovely way to support communication and language development, as well as helping build confidence when talking in front of others. We can’t wait to hear all the bear’s adventures!

🎓 A Fond Farewell
We’ve recently said goodbye to one of our lovely little ones who has moved on to big school. It’s always hard to say goodbye, but we’re so proud of all they’ve achieved and know they’ll continue to shine in their new adventure. We’ll miss you!
🔜 Looking Ahead
Thank you all for taking the time to read and sign the updated policies I shared over the summer. If you have any questions, especially around the new nutritional guidance, please feel free to chat with me at drop-off or pick-up – I’m always happy to help.
From September, many of you will benefit from the new 30 hours funded childcare for working families. This has been a great help for lots of parents. Please make sure your codes are up to date, and do let me know if anything changes with your eligibility.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It’s a joy to care for your little ones and to be part of their early years journey.
Have a lovely Bank holiday Weekend!
